Virtual Autopsy UK Strengthens International Ties at Azerbaijan Governmental RoundtableMeeting

Virtual Autopsy UK, as leading innovator in forensic and post-mortem technologies, recently participated in a pivotal governmental roundtable meeting in Azerbaijan. The event marked a significant step in the transformation and modernisation of post-mortem investigation, particularly in the fields of forensic science, law enforcement, and education.

The delegation from Virtual Autopsy UK engaged in in-depth discussions with senior officials from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Health and Ministry of Defence. This high-level dialogue centred on the potential adoption of advanced virtual autopsy technologies to modernise post-mortem procedures, improve investigative accuracy, and enhance national healthcare capabilities.

Exploring Strategic Collaboration with the Ministry of Health

Discussions with the Ministry of Health highlighted the transformative potential of virtual autopsies for after- death diagnostics. These technologies could streamline processes in forensic examinations, provide rapid and non-invasive insights, and improve overall death investigations in Azerbaijan. Virtual Autopsy UK also proposed training initiatives to equip Azerbaijani professionals with the skills to leverage these advanced systems effectively. Engagement with the Ministry of Defence emphasized the application of virtual autopsy technologies in military settings. These systems could play a crucial role in forensic investigations and casualty analysis, ensuring precise documentation of injuries and causes of death. The collaboration would not only bolster Azerbaijan’s forensic capabilities but also align with the country’s strategic goals in modernising defence technologies.

National Media Spotlight: Baku TV Interview

During our visit, the Virtual Autopsy UK team took to the airwaves with a national television interview on Baku TV, one of Azerbaijan’s leading broadcasters. The interview provided an opportunity to educate the Azerbaijani public and policymakers on the cutting-edge nature of virtual autopsy technologies. It also sheds light on the broader implications of adopting these systems, including their cost-effectiveness, speed, accuracy, and non-invasiveness compared to traditional autopsy methods.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations: Meeting with the British Ambassador

The delegation also had the privilege of meeting the British Ambassador to Azerbaijan, reinforcing the United Kingdom’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with Azerbaijan. Discussions during this meeting revolved around how UK-based technological innovations, such as those pioneered by Virtual Autopsy UK, could support Azerbaijan’s national development goals in healthcare, death, and defence.

With the leadership of Dr Hemanth Naik and his dedicated team, Virtual Autopsy India has been championing this innovative technology, setting new benchmarks in post-mortem examinations while redefining forensic science for the modern era.

Pioneering a New Frontier in Forensic Science

The Virtual Autopsy process offers a groundbreaking alternative to traditional post-mortem examinations, replacing invasive procedures with advanced imaging technologies. This method provides precise, quick, and non-invasive insights, proving invaluable for medical diagnostics, forensic investigations, and humanitarian efforts.

Dr Hemanth Naik and his team have taken on the challenge of introducing this advanced technology to India. It has the potential to address significant gaps in forensic infrastructure and enhance the country’s medico-legal systems.

Virtual Autopsy India organised over a dozen workshops in major cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. These sessions brought together healthcare professionals, forensic experts, medical students, and policymakers, fostering a dialogue on the transformative power of virtual autopsy technologies. Participants were provided with live demonstrations of virtual autopsy tools, giving them hands-on experience with this innovative process.

Virtual Autopsy Training Bangalore 2024

The event drew enthusiastic participants from prestigious institutions such as AIIMS Patna, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Hindi Institute of Medical Sciences (UP), Government Medical College Kanpur (UP), and AIIMS Guwahati & University Indonesia.

This five-day intensive training program delved into the fundamentals and technical aspects of Post-Morte Computed Tomography (PMCT). Participants engaged in detailed case studies and gained hands-on experience with real cases, culminating in an examination and certification process.

International Society of Forensic Radiology and Imaging #ISFRI24 (Krakow, Poland)

Virtual Autopsy Global Solutions Engages in Strategic Brainstorming Session with Dubai Police Forensic Experts

In a groundbreaking collaboration poised to revolutionise forensic science in the Middle East, Virtual Autopsy Global Solutions (VAGS) recently convened a pivotal brainstorming session with key stakeholders in Dubai on the 25th of April 2024. The focus of the meeting? Research and development initiatives are set to transform the landscape of virtual autopsy at the upcoming state-of-the-art centre in Dubai.

The prestigious gathering took place at the Dubai Police HQ, where esteemed forensic specialists Dr Younis and Dr Rawdha AlShamsi , alongside representatives from VAGS and its trusted partner BIORUS, engaged in a dynamic exchange of ideas and expertise. Nafissa Benhamadi, representing Biorus, played a pivotal role in facilitating the dialogue.

The meeting delved deep into the intricacies of virtual autopsy technology and its application in forensic investigations. The collaboration aims to enhance the capabilities of forensic professionals in Dubai, equipping them with cutting-edge tools and methodologies to bolster their investigative prowess.

One of the key highlights of the discussion was the prospect of establishing Dubai as a premier hub for training and education in Post-Mortem Computed Tomography (PMCT). Driven by a shared vision of advancing forensic science and enhancing global standards, VAGS and its partners are committed to nurturing a culture of excellence in forensic medicine within the region.

As Dubai continues to position itself as a global leader in innovation and technology, the establishment of a state-of-the-art virtual autopsy centre marks a significant stride towards advancing forensic capabilities in the region. First-of-its-kind Virtual Autopsy Workshop in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Society of Forensic Medicine and the Ministry of Health Saudi Arabia

We are thrilled to share the resounding success of Virtual Autopsy Global Solutions (VAGS) recent venture to Saudi Arabia! Conducting a groundbreaking workshop on April 22-23 in Riyadh, in collaboration with the esteemed Saudi Arabian Forensic Society – Ministry of Health Saudi Arabia, was an incredible milestone for us.

The event was graciously sponsored by our trusted partner, Arab Security. We heartily appreciate Yasser Kusibati from Arab Security for his instrumental role in orchestrating this momentous occasion.

The workshop, which had 26 state forensic specialists in attendance, was a hub of knowledge exchange and innovation. Among the distinguished participants was Dr. Abdullah Zarie, the Program Director at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, whose insightful contribution enriched the discourse.

We are ecstatic to report that the feedback received from all 26 participants was a stellar 5/5 rating for the workshop! Their enthusiastic response reaffirms our commitment to delivering top-notch educational experiences and advancing forensic practices globally.

The overwhelming success of this workshop has paved the way for VAGS to introduce Virtual Autopsy technology to Saudi Arabia at the earliest opportunity. We are excited about the prospect of collaborating with the Saudi Arabian Forensic Society and other stakeholders to revolutionise forensic medicine in the region.

World Police Summit – Dubai

VA UK had the privilege of attending the World Police Summit in March, where we witnessed first-hand the advancements in law enforcement through ingenuity and innovation. We also understood better how we at Virtual Autopsy UK Ltd seamlessly fit into the death investigation pathway globally. We want to give a huge vote of gratitude to Prof Michael Thali for delivering an excellent keynote lecture on “Virtual Autopsy And AI,” which was mind-blowing and inspiring.

Arab Health – Dubai

Arab Health Exhibition Dubai, what an adventure for Virtual Autopsy UK Ltd. It was undoubtedly an insightful and enlightening adventure. We met some great inspiring people with discussions and meetings around a collaborative approach to how best to serve the needs of our clients equitably and with the highest level of excellence.

It was a pleasure reconnecting with my friend Professor Jason Payne-James and his team, Judy Payne- James and Grace Payne-James, along with Darren Brown. During our conversation, we explored the collaborative synergies between our respective organisations and how they work together to promote justice, humanity, and the best of forensic medicine in death investigations.

It was inspiring to see such a dedicated group of professionals working towards a common goal: Virtual Autopsy.

It was a great honour to deliver a 3-day Workshop on Virtual Autopsy to a group of enthusiastic and visionary clinicians in Dubai whilst meeting up with my dear friends SAMI MEKKI from The Private Office of Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed Al Maktoum and Dr Krzysztof Woźniak from Poland.

Philippines National Police – Virtual Autopsy Workshop

Virtual Autopsy UK delivered a 2-day Virtual Autopsy workshop inaugurated by PBGEN Constancio T. Chinayog, Director of the Philippines National Police – Forensic Group, with support from PCOL Joseph C. Palmero. We had an action-packed schedule, packed with a series of lectures on Forensic Radiology and a thrilling hands-on activity on CT anatomy.

The workshop was attended by 30 enthusiastic participants from all around the Philippines, eager to delve into the fascinating world of forensics and expand their knowledge and skills.

PGIMS Rohtak – Virtual Autopsy Workshop India

It was an honour to deliver a one-day workshop on Virtual Autopsy to The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) under the visionary leadership of Dr Suresh .K. Dhattarwal (HoD) and his team. There were over 250 enthusiastic registrations to attend, and we were overwhelmed by the level of interest from participants from the state of Haryana.

International Society of Forensic Radiology and Imaging (Toulouse, France)

It was an honour and a privilege to be a proud sponsor of the International Society of Forensic Radiology and Imaging 2023 in Toulouse, France. The conference was incredibly well organised, and all credit and success has to go to Dr Fabrice Dedouit and his amazing team. After an intense day of learning, Virtual Autopsy UK Ltd hosted a little R&R drinks evening both nights in the hotel lobby. It was enjoyed by many, some with headaches in the morning, but it was fun anyway. This event gave me an opportunity to catch up with old friends and make some new ones.

Virtual Autopsy UK held India’s first 5-day training program on “Virtual Autopsy”, which started at the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) on 16th January 2023 at NFSU. Virtual Autopsy International Conference, Azerbaijan

Organised by our very own Dr Vugar Huseynov (Virtual Autopsy UK Project Director for CIS), we presented a one-day Seminar to delegates from the Ministry of Health, Forensic Medical Experts from the Ministry of Defense (Russian Federation), Forensic Experts from the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Digital Development, and the Religion Committee of the Azerbaijan Republic.
